Excerpt from Geoff Walker’s (the old G) personal journal…
Sunday the 20th - Day 2 Boys in Boats and the Bears at Brooks and the weather is partly sunny, partly cloudy, chance of rain, and windy.
After being canceled out of “Contact”…deep in the woods, chocked with artic char supposedly prime for fishing… due to low ceilings even after driving completely around the clouds…Lt. Dan diverted us to Brooks Falls …famous for “Bears eating spawning salmon as they swam upstream.
Bear Class started at 10:30 in the Ranger’s hut. Fortunately, we all passed and received our “Bear Pins” at a quick graduation ceremony… (Abi…this time I did stay awake thru the whole class)..
From Class out to the Falls and some amazing sites…check it out..
(Great videos coming soon)
Lunch in the picnic area…after Trevor got chased away from the men’s room by a “Sow” (Mama Bear) and her three cubs…we had a peaceful lunch
…then back to the plane with the bush pilots…who let Captain Mark…fly us home in the amphibious plane…overloaded with 8…to get us home to camp…
3 PM the gauntlet was thrown down - Dad’s plus Aaron (a guide)…versus boys and Tom (another guide)..mano e mano…fish versus fish…on the “NakNek River”…
2 boats…2 Thermos’s filled with Hot Chocolate and Grand Marnier…they pulled out from the dock…determined and destined for success…the competition was on…
…later that day
5:10 PM Base Camp: Dad’s return feeling victorious- 6 rainbows…one 17”…gorgeous…(insert picture of Geoff & fish)…boys not back yet…
6:22 Boys, the competition returned “high-fiving” each other on the dock…Dad’s are nervous…
Clearly when we saw the pictures…see below…Dad’s lost…boys win…
It’s Good To Be A Guy!!!!…still time to win!.

OH MY GOD!!....huge bears, "NekNek", "mano a mano" fishing competition...what could be better??!! You would've thought those "boys" would've taken pity on "the Dads" and let them win......:)
Great blogging, Geoff!!
Love,
Marianne
Wow, looks pretty epic! The stache is coming along great.
i actually took the Bear Class for dummies and passed with flying colors. It's quite simple:
1) see Bear
2) scream "BBBEEEEAAAARRRRR!!!"
3) run for your lives
Steps 2 and 3 can be done in either order.
