sooo...2 days and 4 airports later we finally arrived at our destination. we went from a concrete jungle to forests as far as the eye can see. our arrival in Anchorage was highlighted by anticipated rain and random mix of tourists looking to venture out into Alaska. a short ride later we arrived at the millennium hotel, which sits on the lake hood. for those that are interested...a couple interesting facts:
-lake hood is the busiest float plane lake in the world.
-Anchorage as a city has more pilots per capita than an other city in the world...who would have thought ...but after seeing it..totally makes sense
anywho...after arrival we checked into the hotel and quickly took care of business...dinner. per recommendation we went to a breathtaking restaurant, Simon and Seafort, that looked over a horseshoe of cliffs. after some halibut cheeks and ginormous king crab legs, the four of us were spent and ready for bed
the next morning we convened at breakfast. a couple of short stacks and reindeer sausage later we were ready for our next flight to rapids camp. as we sat at breakfast looking over lake hood we quickly took notice to the multiple "float planes"....not to be confused with sea planes.... constantly landing. below is a video of what we saw.
stay tuned….the salmon Internet is kinda weak for videos
after checking out of the hotel we set off for he airport for our final leg of our trip.....we have to admit ..yes...we took a quick pit stop at the liquor store for some tasty liquids.
at the airport we met up with chris and boarded our plane.....that seats max of 18...below is a picture.
finally at rapids camp lodge.....a sight for sore eyes. i’ll include more pics as we go on..but for now its time for bed.
goodnight from chris, kevin, mark, trevor and geoff
also …check out the stache…..
i cant even look in the mirror and take myself seriously!
hope everyone is doing well
