Sooo....over the next couple of weeks i will attempt to keep a blog of our Alaska trip. i thought it would be interesting for friends and family to follow along, get updates with pictures/videos and post their comments. we'll see if i can hold up my end of the bargain.....
As we approach one week till we venture into the Alaska wilderness, its time to sit down and do some prep work. Before i get into that, let me send out our condolences to the gormans....matt/jim. The trip wont be the same without you. Uncle Jim.....we wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to the next time you and Matt can join us on a father/son trip.
that said....this weekend i will be traveling to Philly to get a bunch of fishing gear that i have never heard of before...IE) chest waders, nymphs and midges. they've provided us with a detailed list of items to buy....but who knows what my dad and i will walk out of that store with. Let’s just hope it keeps us warm and catches us fish.....which my dad has never seemed able to do!
Below is our detailed itinerary but i thought I’d give you a brief description about the trip.
Mark Keating and his two boys, Chris and Kevin will join my dad and i as we head to Anchorage Alaska. once there we will board sea planes to Rapids camp lodge on the Naknek river, which is home to some of the largest rainbow trout in Alaska. From the 18th to the 24th we will enjoy some of the best fly fishing in the world as we travel around to various locations via sea planes. Along with the fishing, we will be experiencing some of the best sightseeing in the world. we hope to see and photograph everything from moose, eagles, bears amongst many other kinds of wildlife. Some of us have decided to extend our trip until the 31st, when we will travel down to Juneau and take short day trips...see below for details. It should prove to be an epic trip with plenty of activity but more importantly ....plenty of R and R.
I’ve included some links below that gives more insight as to where we are staying and the activities we will be doing
